Our customers are often interested in the price of unloading one type of vehicle and loading another. Usually, when transhipping cargo in a sea port, this service is one of the most demanded. The customer orders the delivery of container cargo by sea and then wants the cargo to be transhipped into a truck and sent to the warehouse.
It is not always possible to give an unambiguous answer to the customer’s question about the price, because in fact the price depends on how the cargo is packed into the container. The second factor is the use of manual labour in works. The rate for manual transhipment is higher than mechanical transhipment.
We want to give some advice to our customers!
- Make sure that the cargo has been placed on a pallet at the container loading point. The easiest way to unload and load is unloading and loading using a forklift. The price of handling palletized cargo will be lower, since the use of manual labour is not implied and the time spent on cargo handling is significantly saved.
- Ask to send a photo of the cargo loaded into the container. It will be much easier for our managers to give a preliminary estimate of the price of the service if they see how the cargo is located inside the container. It is not uncommon that even cargo placed on a pallet falls during transportation and boxes, rolls and bags tumble down inside the container. In this case, when unloading the cargo, both forklifts and loaders will work, who will manually load the cargo onto pallets.

It is important to take into account the quality of packaging, fastening of cargo inside the container and how cargo is placed inside the container. - If it is necessary to handle oversized cargo, it is better to provide data on the weight and volume of the cargo in advance so that we can immediately select the necessary equipment to work with cargo. If your cargo is rolled or packed in big bags, you must specify the dimensions of rolls and bags.
